Theiagen is a data analysis company staffed by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and public health experts, committed to improving infectious disease control, food safety, molecular diagnostics, and environmental monitoring.

What We Believe
Genome sequencing technologies used to be the domain of large academic institutions or governmental research groups. However, we believe in the democratization of technical expertise through collaborative knowledge sharing, workflow support, and world-leading data analysis services.
This democratization can allow any clinical, environmental, or food safety organization to achieve their strategic and scientific goals, regardless of their size and resource availability.

Joel R. Sevinsky
CEO/Founder
Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental
Biology from CU Boulder
BA in Microbiology from UC Santa Barbara
Dr. Sevinsky has leveraged over two decades of experience in systems biology and has taken aim at transforming public health and infectious disease surveillance through innovative implementation of NGS and bioinformatics technologies. During a three-year tenure at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, he led several initiatives to build NGS testing and bioinformatics capacity at the state, regional, and national levels.
In 2019 Dr. Sevinsky’s ambitions to impact public health exceeded his role as a government scientist, resulting in the formation of Theiagen Genomics. Dr. Sevinsky and his team now work with over four dozen public health laboratories nationally and more than a dozen internationally across Africa and Asia.
